Narration and state of Adam and Eve of the first creatures, revealed by God to Moses to his healer, when he received the tablets of the law of the covenant from the hand of the Lord, taught by the archangel Michael.
This is the story of Adam and Eve. after they came out of paradise, Adam took Eve as his wife and went up to the east. and they stayed there eighteen years and two months, and Eve was in the womb and gave birth to two sons, Diaphotos called Cain and Amilabes called Abel.
And after these things happened to each other Adam and Eve; while they slept Eve said to her master Adam: my lord, I saw in a dream that night the blood of my son Amilab of the chosen Abel put into the mouth of his brother Cain, and he drank it mercilessly. and he begged him to forgive him a little of it, but he did not listen to him, but swallowed it all; and it did not remain in his belly, but came out of his mouth. And Adam said to Eve: let's get up and go and see what is the matter with them, lest the enemy fight against them.
When they both went, they found Abel slain by the hand of his brother Cain. And the god Michael says to the archangel: tell Adam that the mystery you saw do not tell your son Cain, because he is a son of wrath. but don't be sad. For I will give you another son instead of him, who will declare to you everything you do to him; but you do not say anything to him. God said this to his angel, and Adam kept the word in his heart, and Eve with him, having sorrow for their son Abel.
καὶ λέγει Ἀδὰμ τῇ Εὔᾳ · ἰδοὺ ἐγεννήσαμεν υἱὸν ἀντὶ Ἄβελ , ὃν ἀπέκτεινεν Κάϊν · δώσωμεν δόξαν καὶ θυσίαν τῷ θεῷ . and after this I made Adam his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Seth. And Adam says to Eve: behold, we have given birth to a son instead of Abel, whom Cain betrothed; let us give glory and sacrifice to God.
καὶ λέγουσιν · τί ἐστιν πόνος καὶ νόσος ; And Adam produced thirty sons and thirty daughters. and he fell ill, and with a loud voice he said: all my sons came to me, as I see them before they die. and they all came together; For the earth was inhabited in three parts; and they all came to the door of the house into which the glory of God entered. And his son Seth said, father Adam, what is your disease? And he says: my child, pain is very much with me. And they say: what is pain and disease?
λέγει αὐτῷ Σήθ · καὶ πῶς σοὶ ἐγένοντο ; And when Seth answered him, did you not remember, father, the paradise from which you came, and had pity on them? if so, tell me, and I will go and bring you fruit from heaven. for I will put dung on my head and I will cry and pray, and the Lord will listen to me and send his angel, and I will pray for you so that the pain will cease from you. Adam says to him: no, my son Seth, but I have sickness and pain. Seth says to him: and how did it happen to you?
And Adam said to him: when God created us, me and your mother, for whom I die, he gave us every plant in paradise, but he commanded us not to eat from it, because of which we die. But the time of the angels guarding your mother came to go up and worship the Lord; the enemy gave it to her and ate from the wood, knowing that not even the holy angels were near her; then he let others eat.
But when we both ate, God was angry with us. And when he came to heaven, the despot raised his throne and called with a terrible voice saying: Adam, where are you? And why are you hiding from my face? Can't a house be hidden from its builder? and says Because you abandoned my covenant, I subjected your body to seventy plagues. the pain of the first wound the rapture of the eyes; the pain of the second wound of the hearing; and so from then on all the wounds follow you.
When Adam said these things to his sons, he sighed heavily, and said: What shall I do? I am very sorry. And Eve also wept, saying: my lord Adam, arise, show me half of your disease, and I will stop it, because because of me this happened to you, because of me you also suffer pains. And Adam said to Eve; Arise and go with our son Seth near heaven, and put earth on your heads and weep, asking God to have compassion on me, and send his angel to heaven and give me from the tree where the olive grows. from him, and you will enable me, and I will be anointed and rest, and I will declare to you the way in which we were deceived before.
ἐβόησεν δὲ Εὔα πρὸς τὸ θηρίον λέγουσα · σὺ θηρίον πονηρόν , οὐ φοβήσει τὴν εἰκόνα τοῦ θεοῦ πολεμῇσαι ; πῶς ἠνοίγη τὸ στόμα σου ; πῶς ἐνίσχυσαν οἱ ὀδόντες σου ; πῶς οὐκ ἐμνήσθης τῇς ὑποταγῇς σου , ὅτι πρότερον ὑπετάγης τῇ εἰκόνι τοῦ θεοῦ ; But Seth and Eve traveled to the parts of paradise. and as they were going, Eve saw her son and a beast fighting him. but Eve cried, saying: Alas, alas, because if I come to the day of resurrection, all the sinners will curse me, saying that Eve did not keep the commandment of God. And Eve howled at the beast, saying: O wicked beast, do you not fear the image of God to fight? how did you open your mouth? how did your teeth get stronger? how did you not remember your submission, because before you submitted to the image of God?
Then the beast howled saying: O Eve, your greediness nor your cry is not towards us, but towards you, because the beginning of the beasts was born from you. How can you open your mouth to eat from the tree about which God commanded you not to eat from it? because of this, nature was also changed for us. now, then, he will not be able to subdue, if I am deprived, they will control you.
But Seth says to the beast: shut your mouth and keep quiet, and turn away from the image of God until the day of judgment. then the beast says to Seth: behold, I depart, Seth, from the image of God. then the beast left and left him wounded, and went to his tent.
But Seth went with his mother Eve near paradise, and they wept there, asking God to send his angel and give them the oil of mercy. and God sent Michael the archangel to them, and told them these words: Seth, man of God, do not make a blessing on this prayer about the wood in which the oil flows, you anointed your father Adam; for it will not come to you now, but at the end of time. then all flesh will be resurrected from Adam until that great day, those who are a holy people; then all the joys of paradise will be given to them, and God will be among them; And they will not be sinning before him, because the wicked heart will be removed from them, and they will be given a heart that is good and they will worship God alone. you go again to your father, because the measure of his life has been fulfilled, equal to three days, and when his soul comes out, you will see its terrible ascension.
And when he had said these things, the angel departed from them. Seth and Eve came to the tent where Adam was. And Adam says to Eve: what shall I destroy in us, and you have brought upon us a great wrath, which is death conquering all of our race? and he says to her: call all our children and our children's children, and announce to them the way of our transgression.
Then Eve says to them: listen, all my children and my children's children, and I am announcing to you how our enemy has deceived us. He was in heaven guarding us, each of us guarding his own part of God; but I guard it in my kingdom, south and west. And the devil came to the lot of Adam, where the male beasts were; because God divided the beasts among us, and all the male ones he gave to your father, and all the female ones he gave me, and each one of us keeps his own.
And the devil spoke to him, saying: get up, come to me and I will tell you a word in which you will benefit. then the ophis came to him, and the devil said to him: I hear that you are wiser than all the beasts, but I have come to be understood by you; and you are the greatest of all the beasts, and speak to you; but you worship the least. Why do you eat from the weeds of Adam and his wife, and not from the fruit of paradise? rise up and let us make him come out of paradise through his wife, as we were also come out through him. said the servant; I fear lest my lord be angry with me. the devil says to him: do not be afraid; only make me a vessel, that I may speak with your mouth a word in which you may deceive him.
And he was hanged directly from the walls of heaven about the time when the Angels of God ascended to worship him. then Satan was born in the form of an angel and praised God as the Angels; and I leaned down from the wall and saw him like an angel. and he says to me: are you Eve? And I said to him: I am. and he says to me: what are you doing in paradise? And I said to him: God has placed us to guard and protect us from him. the devil answered me through the mouth of the deceased: you sing well, but you do not eat from every plant. and I say to him: yes, of every plant we eat except one, which is in the middle of paradise, about which God commanded us not to eat from it, on death die.
Then the officer says to me: God lives because I feel sorry for you, because you are like an animal. for I do not want you to be ignorant of this, but arise, dear one, listen to me and eat, and understand the price of the wood. And I said to him: I am afraid that God will be angry with me, as he told us. and he says to me: do not be afraid, for when you eat, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like a god, knowing what is good and what is evil. But God knowing this, that you were like him, envied you and said: do not eat of it. but you take care of the plant, and see great glory about it. But I paid attention to the plant, and I saw a great glory about it. I told him that it is beautiful for the eyes to understand, and they were afraid to take from the fruit. and he says to me: I will give you money, follow me.
And I opened to him, and he entered into heaven, and he pursued before me. and after walking a little, he turned and said to me: after thinking about it, I will not give you anything to eat. And these things he said, I want in the end you will be tempted and lost with me. and he says to me: the same to me that you also give to your husband. And I said to him that I do not know what oath I have sworn to you, but what I have seen I tell you: with the throne of the despot and the cherubim and the tree of life, that I will also give to my husband to eat. but when he received from me the oath, then he came and stepped on him; and he put on the fruit, which he gave me to eat, the sin of his wickedness, that is of his desire; since desire is the head of all sin. And I bent the branch on the ground and they took of the fruit and they ate.
And at that time my eyes were opened, and I knew that I was naked in righteousness, which I was clothed with. and I wept, saying: what hast thou done unto me, that I was taken away from my glory, in which I was clothed? I also cry about the oath. But he came down from the plant and was born incorruptible. But I asked for leaves in my part to cover my weakness, and they did not find any of the plants of paradise, because, if they ate, the leaves of all the plants in my part would fall apart, except for the fig tree alone. and taking leaves from it I made girdles on myself, and it is among those plants from which they ate.
And I cried out with a loud voice saying: Adam Adam, where are you? Arise, come to me, and I will show you a great mystery. But when your father came, I told him reasons of illegitimacy, which brought us down from great glory. for when he came, I opened my mouth and the devil spoke, and I admonished him saying: hey, my lord Adam, listen to me and eat of the fruit of the tree, of which God told us not to eat, and be like god. And your father answered and said: I fear lest God be angry with me. And I said to him: do not be afraid; for if you eat, you will know good and evil. and then I quickly persuaded him, he ate, and his eyes were opened, and he also undressed himself. and he says to me: O wicked woman, what shall I destroy in us? you alienate me from the glory of God.
And at that time we heard the archangel Michael blowing his trumpet, calling the angels saying: thus says the Lord: come with me to paradise and hear the words in which I judge Adam. and when we heard the archangel blowing the trumpet, we said: behold, God is coming to heaven to judge us. but we were afraid and hid. and the god ascended to heaven riding on a Cherubim chariot, and the Angels praising him. where the god entered the paradise, the plants of the lot of Adam and of the lot of me all grew and were supported, and the throne of the god where the tree of life was was permitted.
And God called Adam, saying: Adam, where have you hid, do they think that I am not with you? Is not a house hidden from him who built it? then your father answered and said: no, sir, we are hiding as if we think that we are not with you, but I am afraid, because I am naked, and your state has been defiled, master. God says to him: why did they show you that you are naked, if not because you abandon my commandment that I gave you to guard it? then Adam remembered the word I spoke to him, when you wanted to deceive him, that I will make you harmless before God; and turning to me he said to me: what did you do? But I remembered the words of the priest, and I said that the priest had deceived me.
God says to Adam: because you obeyed my command and listened to your wife, cursed is the earth in your works; for he always works it, and it does not give its strength, it brings forth thorns and thistles, and in the moisture of your face it eats your bread. It is a multicolour, and with the bastard, and with a bit of a sweetness, and with the sake of the sake of the sake of the sake of the sake of the sake, ὶ disorder, because you did not keep my commandment.
Turning to me, the Lord says to me, because you have longed for forgiveness and obeyed my command, you are in vain and in unbearable pain; bear children in many terrors, and in one hour you will come and lose your life because of your great need. and of pain. And confess and say: Lord, Lord, save me, and I will not return to the sin of the flesh. and for this reason I judge you for your word, because of the enmity that the enemy has placed in you; turn again to your husband, and let him dominate you.
But after they had told me these things, he said to Ophès in great anger, saying to him: because you have done this and become an ungrateful vessel, until you lead the rest of them astray in their hearts, cursed are you above all animals; deprive your stomach of food, and they will eat all the days of your life; walk on your chest and belly and be deprived of your hands and feet; neither an ear nor a wing nor a limb will be spared to you of those whom you have tempted in your wickedness and caused them to be expelled from paradise; and I will put an enemy between you and between his seed; he shall be your head and you his heel until the day of the crisis.
And these things he commanded his angels to send us out of heaven. And when we were happy and in pain, your father Adam called the angels, saying: spare me a little, as I beseech God, and be moved and have mercy on me, for I am the only sinner. And they ceased to bless him; and Adam cried out with tears, saying, Forgive me, Lord, for what I have done. then the Lord says to his angels: what did you do when you took Adam from paradise? Is it not only sin, or did I judge badly? then the Angels falling to the earth worshipped the Lord saying: You are righteous, Lord, and you judge righteously.
And the Lord turned to Adam and said: I will not leave you, from now on he is in paradise. And Adam answered and said: Lord, show me from the tree of life that I may eat before I am cast out. then the Lord spoke to Adam: he shall not take from him now, for he appeared to the Cherubim and to the flaming sword that turned, keep it for you, so that you do not taste of it and you are immortal for ever, but you have the war that the Lord enemy in you. but when you come out of paradise, if you keep yourself from all evil, as if you were going to die, after the resurrection, I will rise again in you, and then you will be given the tree of life, and you will be immortal forever.
And when the Lord said these things, it is his will to cast us out of paradise, and your father wept before the angels facing heaven, and the angels said to him: what do you want us to do to you, Adam? and when your father answered, he said to the angels: behold, bring me forth; I beseech you, let me be a fragrance from heaven, so that after I have come forth I may offer myself as a sacrifice to God, as God listens to me. And when they came, the Angels said to God: Jael, eternal king, call for sweet-smelling incense to be given to Adam from heaven. And God sent Adam to come so that he could receive fragrances from paradise for his sustenance. And when the Angels sent him, he gathered both seeds, saffron and nard and calamon and cinnamon and other seeds for his nourishment, and he took these and came out of paradise. and we were born on earth.
Now then, my children, I have declared to you the way in which we have been deceived; but you, take care not to forsake the good.
And these things I said through her sons, while Adam was asleep in his disease, but he had one day to come out of the body, Eve says to Adam: why do you die and I live? or how long have you been doing after the death of ? He announced to me. then Adam says to Eve: don't worry about things; for you will not be late for me, but we will both die the same, and she will put me in the place. But when I die, forsake me, and let no one eat me until the angel of the Lord speaks about me; for God will not be used by me, but he will ask for the same vessel that he made. zzz
Then Eve got up and went out, and falling on the ground she said: sin, the god, sin, the father of all, sin to you, sin to your chosen angels, sin to the cherubim, sin to your unsullied throne, sin lord, sin many, sin against you, and all sins by me of event in the building. And when Eve was praying on her knees, behold, the angel of humanity came to her and raised her up, saying: arise, Eve, from your repentance; for behold, Adam, your man, has come out of his body, arise, and see his spirit referring to the afflicted one, to answer him. E
When Eve rose, they laid her hand on her face, and the angel said to her: Deliver her from the earth. But Eve looked up into the sky, and saw a chariot of light coming under four bright eagles, which it was not possible for those born from the womb to tell their glory or see their face, and angels advancing the chariot. when they came to the place where your father Adam was, the chariot and the Seraphim stood between the father and the chariot. And I saw golden censers and three flasks, and behold, all the Angels with frankincense and the censers and flasks came to the altar and blew on them, and the vapor of the incense covered the pillars. And the Angels came and worshipped God, shouting and saying: Holy Jael, forgive, for the poem of your holy hands is yours.
And then I saw two great and terrible mysteries before God. and I cried out of fear, and cried out to my son Seth, saying: arise Seth from the body of your father Adam and come to me, as you see what no eye has ever seen, and they are bound for your father Adam.
ἄραγε , τέκνον μου Σήθ , τί ἔσται τοῦτο ; πότε δὲ παραδοθήσεται εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τοῦ ἀοράτου πατρὸς καὶ θεοῦ ἡμῶν ; τίνες δέ εἰσιν οἱ δύο αἰθίοπες οἱ παριστάμενοι ἐπὶ τὴν προσευχὴν τοῦ πατρός σου ; Then Seth got up and came to his mother, and he said to her: what is the matter with you? and why are you crying? he says to him: look up with your eyes and see the seven pillars opened, and see with your eyes how the body of your father is lying face down, and all the holy angels with him praying for him and saying: forgive him, the father of all, for he is yours. so, my child Seth, what is this? when will it be delivered into the hands of our invisible father and god? Are the two Ethiopians present at your father's prayer?
And Seth said to his mother: these are the sun and the moon, and they who fall down and pray for my father Adam. Eve says to him: and where is their light, and why are they black-eyed? and Seth says to her: they cannot be seen before the light of all, and for this reason the light was hidden from them.
And when Seth was speaking to his mother, the Angels blew their trumpets in his sight, and uttered a terrible voice saying: blessed be the glory of the Lord for his poems; He had mercy on the creature of his hands, Adam. When the Angels disagreed, one of the Seraphim came with wings and snatched Adam into the Eternal Lake and washed him before God. and three texts were written in time, and thus stretching out his hands, the despot of all, sitting on his holy throne, saw Adam and handed him over to the archangel Michael, saying to him; take him to heaven to the third heaven, and let him burn until the day of that great and terrible day, which will be brought to the world in the future. And when Michael the archangel took Adam, he went and occupied him, as God told him about the forgiveness of Adam.
καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸν παράδεισον , καὶ ἐκινήθησαν πάντα τὰ φυτὰ τοῦ παραδείσου , ὡς πάντας ἀπὸ τοῦ Ἀδὰμ γεγεννημένους ἀπὸ τῇς εὐωδίας νυστάξαι , χωρὶς τοῦ Σήθ , διὰ τὸ γεννηθῇναι αὐτὸν καθ’ ὅρον τοῦ θεοῦ . after all this, the archangel was instructed about the funeral of the relic; and God commanded that all the Angels should assemble before him, each one according to his order. and all the Angels were gathered together, those who had no censers, and those who had trumpets; and the Lord of hosts came up, and the winds mourned him, and Cherubim above the winds, and Angels of heaven preceded him; and when they came to where Adam's body was, they received it. and they came to paradise, and all the plants of paradise were moved, as all those born of Adam from the fragrance fell asleep, except for Seth, because he was born according to the order of God.
So Adam's body was on the ground in paradise, and Seth felt great pity for him. And the Lord God said: Adam, what have you done? If you have kept my commandment, your descendants will not be happy in this place. but then I tell you that I will return their joy to sorrow, and I will return your sorrow to joy, and when you return to your rule, I will sit on the throne of the one who betrayed you; and he will be seen in this place, as he sat on it. then he and his hearers will be condemned, and many will be sad and weep at the sight of him sitting on his honourable throne.
And then he said to the archangel Michael: ascend to heaven in the third heaven and give me a shroud of three crimson and syrica. And God said to Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Raphael; you covered the body of Adam with the shrouds, and pouring oil of perfume oil on him. and having done so, they exhumed his body. And the Lord said: I will also envy the body of Abel. and wearing another shroud, they also sent him away, because he had been a priest since the day they killed his brother Cain. for the wicked Cain took great care to hide himself, he was not weakened; for the earth would not accept this, saying: I will not accept another's body, until the dust on me rises and comes to me. Angels then taking care of this was done on the stone, until his father died, and both of them were buried by God's command in the parts of paradise, in the place where they were found by God. and God sent seven angels to heaven, and they brought a lot of perfume and put it on the ground; and so they took the two bodies and buried them in the place they had dug up and built.
And God called Adam and said: Adam Adam? and the body from the earth answered and said: here I am, sir. And the Lord said to him: I told you that it is earth, and to earth he will depart. I promise you the resurrection again; I will rise to you on the last day in the resurrection with every man of your seed.
καὶ εὐθέως παρέδωκε τῷ θεῷ τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτῇς . but after these words, God made a triangular seal and sealed the monument, so that it would not be known what he would do to him during the six days, until his side was turned towards him. And when the philanthropic God and the holy angels left him in his place after the sixteen days, Eve also passed away. but during her life she wept over her sleep because it was not known where her body would be laid in the future. because in the presence of the Lord in paradise when Adam was sent away, she and her children slept, except for Seth, as it was said. and Eve begged at the hour of her death to be buried where her husband Adam was, saying thus: my lord, lord and god of all virtue, do not alienate your servant from the body of Adam, for from his members you made me · but let me, both unworthy and sinful, be joined to his body. as I was with him in paradise and inseparable after transgression, so let nothing separate us. after that, I looked up into the sky, she rose, I bowed to her breast and said: God of answers, receive my spirit. and directly surrendered her spirit to God.
Finally, the archangel Michael appeared, and when three angels came, they took her body and buried it where Abel's body was. and the archangel Michael said to Seth: thus always bury a dying person until the day of resurrection. But after giving this law, he said to him: Do not mourn for six days. But on the seventh day, rest and rejoice over it, because in it God and we, the Angels, rejoice in the transition from earth with a righteous soul. These things the archangel Michael ascended to heaven, glorifying and saying hallelujah, holy holy holy lord, to the glory of God the father, for to him is due glory, honour and worship with the anarch and his life-maker now and forever and ever , Amen.
