And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
But he was saying this signifying by what sort of death he was about to die. But he was saying this signifying by what sort of death he was about to die.
12:34 ἀπεκρίθη οὖν αὐτῷ ὄχλος, ἡμεῖς ἠκούσαμεν ἐκ τοῦ νόμου ὅτι Χριστὸς μένει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, καὶ πῶς λέγεις σὺ ὅτι δεῖ ὑψωθῆναι τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου;
τίς ἐστιν οὗτος υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου;
34 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ὄχλος, ἡμεῖς ἠκούσαμεν ἐκ τοῦ νόμου, ὅτι Χριστὸς μένει εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· καὶ πῶς σὺ λέγεις, ὅτι δεῖ ὑψωθῆναι τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου;

The crowd then answered him, “We have heard out of the Torah that the Christ is to remain forever; and how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?” The crowd answered him, “We have heard out of the Torah that the Christ is to remain forever; and how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?”
So Jesus said to them, “For a little more time the light is among you. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness might not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness doesn't know where he goes. So Jesus said to them, “For a little more time the light is among you. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness might not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness doesn't know where he goes.
While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke; and after going away, he hid from them. While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke; and after going away, he hid from them.
But though he had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in him. But though he had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in him.
12:38 ἵνα λόγος Ἠσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου πληρωθῇ ὃν εἶπεν, κύριε, τίς ἐπίστευσεν τῇ ἀκοῇ ἡμῶν;
καὶ βραχίων κυρίου τίνι ἀπεκαλύφθη;
38 ἵνα λόγος Ἠσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου πληρωθῇ, ὃν εἶπε, κύριε, τίς ἐπίστευσε τῇ ἀκοῇ ἡμῶν;
καὶ βραχίων κυρίου τίνι ἀπεκαλύφθη;
That the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke might be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”1 That the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke might be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”1
For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, Therefore they could not believe, because that Isaiah said again,
“He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and think with their heart, and be converted and I heal them.”1 “He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and think with their heart, and be converted and I heal them.”1
These things Isaiah said because he saw his glory, and he spoke concerning him. These things Isaiah said because he saw his glory, and he spoke concerning him.
Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing him, lest they might be put out of the synagogue; Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing him, lest they might be put out of the synagogue;
for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God. for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.
And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in me, doesn't believe in me but in him who sent me. And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in me, doesn't believe in me but in him who sent me.
He who sees me sees the one who sent me. He who sees me sees the one who sent me.
I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness. I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.
If anyone hears my sayings and doesn't keep them, I don't judge him; for I didn't come that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world. If anyone hears my sayings and doesn't believe, I don't judge him; for I didn't come that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.
He who rejects me and doesn't receive my words, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him on the last day. He who rejects me and doesn't receive my words, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him on the last day.
Because I didn't speak out of myself, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. Because I didn't speak out of myself, but the Father himself who sent me gave me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.
I know that his commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told me.” I know that his commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told me.”
