Chapter 11
The Triumphal Entry
1And when they approach Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany near the Mount of Olives, He sends two of His disciples 2and says to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately upon entering it, you will find a colt tied up on which no one among men has ever yet sat; untie it and bring it. 3And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it, and He will send it back here immediately.’” 4And they went away and found a colt tied at a door, outside on the street, and they untie it. 5And some of those standing there were saying to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” 6And they spoke to them just as Jesus had said, and they let them go.
7And they bring the colt to Jesus and throw their cloaks over it, and He sat upon it. 8And many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. 9And those going in front and those following were shouting:
 “Hosanna!
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!

10Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!
Hosanna
in the highest!” {Psalm 117 (118):25-26}
11And He entered Jerusalem, into the temple; and after looking around at everything, since the hour was already late, He went out to Bethany with the Twelve.
The Cursing of the Fig Tree
12And on the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He became hungry. 13And seeing from a distance a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing except leaves—for it was not the season for figs. 14And answering, He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again into the age!” And His disciples were listening.
The Cleansing of the Temple
15And they come into Jerusalem. And entering the temple, He began to drive out those who were selling and those who were buying in the temple, and He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those selling doves. 16And He would not permit anyone to carry a vessel through the temple. 17And He began to teach and was saying to them, “Is it not written:
 ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? {Isa. 56:7}
But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’”
18And the chief priests and the scribes heard this and began seeking a way to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, because the whole crowd was spellbound by His teaching. 19And when evening came, they went out outside the city.
The Withered Fig Tree and the Power of Faith
20And as they were passing by early in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up. 21And remembering, Peter says to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered.” 22And answering, Jesus says to them, “Have faith in God. 23Truly I say to you that whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he speaks is happening, it will be done for him. 24For this reason I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be yours.
25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. [[26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses.]]”
The Question of Authority
27  Καὶ ἔρχονται πάλιν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα. καὶ ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ περιπατοῦντος αὐτοῦ ἔρχονται πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι 28  καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ, Ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιεῖς; ἢ τίς σοι ἔδωκεν τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην ἵνα ταῦτα ποιῇς;
27And they come again into Jerusalem. And while He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders come to Him 28and began saying to Him, “By what kind of authority are You doing these things? Or who gave You this authority so that You may do these things?”
29But Jesus said to them, “I will question you on one matter; answer Me, and then I will tell you by what kind of authority I do these things: 30The baptism of John—was it from heaven or from humans? Answer Me.”
31And they began debating among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’ 32But should we say, ‘From humans’?”—they were afraid of the crowd, for everyone held that John really was a prophet. 33And answering Jesus, they say, “We do not know.” And Jesus says to them, “Neither do I tell you by what kind of authority I do these things.”
