The Call to Thanksgiving
117.1 [MT=118:1] Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever. 117.2 [MT=118:2] Let the house of Israel now say that He is good, for His mercy endures forever. 117.3 [MT=118:3] Let the house of Aaron now say that He is good, for His mercy endures forever. 117.4 [MT=118:4] Let all who fear the Lord now say that He is good, for His mercy endures forever.
Confidence in Distraint
117.5 [MT=118:5] Out of my affliction I called upon the Lord, and He heard me and brought me into a broad place. 117.6 [MT=118:6] The Lord is my helper; I will not fear what man shall do to me. 117.7 [MT=118:7] The Lord is my helper, and I shall look [in triumph] upon my enemies. 117.8 [MT=118:8] It is better to trust in the Lord than to trust in man. 117.9 [MT=118:9] It is better to hope in the Lord than to hope in princes.
The Battle with the Nations
117.10 [MT=118:10] All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I warded them off. 117.11 [MT=118:11] Surrounding me, they hemmed me in, but in the name of the Lord I warded them off. 117.12 [MT=118:12] They surrounded me like bees a honeycomb, and they blazed up like fire among thorns, but in the name of the Lord I warded them off. 117.13 [MT=118:13] I was pushed and turned over so that I might fall, but the Lord took hold of me.
The Song of Victory
18 [MT=118:18] παιδεύων ἐπαίδευσέν με ὁ κύριος καὶ τῷ θανάτῳ οὐ παρέδωκέν με. 117.14 [MT=118:14] The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation. 117.15 [MT=118:15] The voice of exultation and salvation is in the tents of the righteous: "The right hand of the Lord has performed power! 117.16 [MT=118:16] The right hand of the Lord has exalted me; the right hand of the Lord has performed power!" 117.17 [MT=118:17] I shall not die, but I shall live, and I shall recount the works of the Lord. 117.18 [MT=118:18] The Lord has disciplined me severely, but He has not given me over to death.
The Processional Entrance
117.19 [MT=118:19] Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will enter through them and give thanks to the Lord. 117.20 [MT=118:20] This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it. 117.21 [MT=118:21] I will give thanks to You, for You heard me and became my salvation.
117.22 [MT=118:22] The stone which the builders rejected, this has become the head of the corner. 117.23 [MT=118:23] This came from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes. 117.24 [MT=118:24] This is the day which the Lord has made; let us exult and be glad in it. 117.25 [MT=118:25] O Lord, save now! O Lord, grant prosperity now! 117.26 [MT=118:26] Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; we have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
The Culmination of the Feast
117.27 [MT=118:27] The Lord is God, and He has shone upon us; establish the feast with thick branches, even to the horns of the altar. 117.28 [MT=118:28] You are my God, and I will give thanks to You; You are my God, and I will exalt You; I will give thanks to You, for You heard me and became my salvation. 117.29 [MT=118:29] Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever.
