Chapter 52
The Call to Honor
| 1 Awake, awake, Zion! Put on your strength, O Zion, and put on your glory, Jerusalem, the holy city; no longer shall the uncircumcised and the unclean pass through you. 2 Shake off the dust and arise; sit down, Jerusalem! Strip off the bond of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion. |
Redemption Without Price
6 διὰ τοῦτο γνώσεται ὁ λαός μου τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι αὐτὸς ὁ λαλῶν· πάρειμι | 3 For thus says the Lord: "You were sold for nothing, and you shall be redeemed not with silver." 4 Thus says the Lord: "My people went down to Egypt at the first to sojourn there, and they were led away to the Assyrians by force. 5 And now, why are you here?" Thus says the Lord: "Because My people were taken for nothing, marvel and wail!" Thus says the Lord: "Because of you, My name is continually blasphemed among the nations. 6 Because of this, My people shall know My name in that day, because I am He who speaks; I am present—" |
The Messenger of Peace
| 7 "—as beauty upon the mountains, like the feet of one bringing good news of a report of peace, like one bringing good news of good things; for I will make your salvation heard, saying to Zion: 'Your God shall reign!'" 8 For the voice of those guarding you was lifted up, and with the voice they shall rejoice together; for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord has mercy on Zion. 9 Let the waste places of Jerusalem break forth into joy together, because the Lord has shown her mercy and has rescued Jerusalem. 10 And the Lord will uncover His holy arm before all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation that comes from God. |
The New Exodus
| 11 Depart, depart, go out from there, and touch nothing unclean! Go out from the midst of her; be separated, you who carry the vessels of the Lord! 12 For you shall not go out with turmoil, nor shall you travel by flight; for the Lord will go before you, and the Lord, the God of Israel, is the one gathering you together. |
The Exalted and Marred Servant
| 13 Behold, My servant shall understand, and he shall be exalted and glorified exceedingly. 14 Just as many shall be astonished at you—so shall your appearance be without glory among men, and your glory [diminished] from among humans— 15 so shall many nations marvel at him, and kings shall shut their mouths; because those to whom it was not announced concerning him shall see, and those who have not heard shall understand. |
