Cain and Abel

1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and gave birth to Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

2 And she again gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

2 And she repeated to give birth to his brother Abel. And Abel became a shepherd of sheep, but Kain was tilling the land. 2 And she repeated to give birth to his brother Abel. And Abel became a shepherd of sheep, but Kain was tilling the land.

3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat of it. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

4 And Abel, he also brought from the first born of his sheep and from his fatlings, and God looked upon Abel and his gifts, 4 And Abel, he also brought from the first born of his sheep and from his fatlings, and God looked upon Abel and his gifts,

5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

5 but He didn’t pay attention to Kain and his sacrifices; and it annoyed Kain greatly and his countenance collapsed. 5 but He didn’t pay attention to Kain and his sacrifices; and it annoyed Kain greatly and his countenance collapsed.

6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why are you wroth? and why is your countenance fallen?

7 If you brought correctly but didn’t divide it correctly, didn’t you sin? Be quiet! His submission is toward you and you shall rule over him.” 7 If you brought correctly but didn’t divide it correctly, didn’t you sin? Be quiet! His submission is toward you and you shall rule over him.”

8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

10 And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother’s blood cries unto me from the ground.

10 And the Lord said, “What have you done? the voice of your brother’s blood shouts to me out of the land.” 10 And the Lord said, “What have you done? the voice of your brother’s blood shouts to me out of the land.”

11 And now are you cursed from the earth, which has opened her mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand;
